Cloud

Plug-in working in the InSpeckEM software, lets you convert 3D models to point cloud. After re-sampling the model texture, a diffuse error algorithm is used to create a black and white image. A point cloud is generated using this B/W image. Finally, the point cloud may be used to print any 3D models in a block of glass.

Project done in April 2003. It has been developed and compiled with Microsoft Visual Studio using the MFC library in C++ to build the User Interface. The plug-in runs under Windows 95-98, Windows NT-2000-XP and uses OpenGL to draw in 3D.

Elements developed by Axialmedia:

  • Started from scratch, we designed everything
  • C++ classes to generate the point cloud
  • Function to draw in real time with OpenGL a block of glass with reflects
  • Methods to save the point clouds in DXF, ASC or OBJ file formats
